I dont even know why I bought halley. It's gross. But for one lira, i'll take it. Chocolate is so expensive here :|

Starting to talk to more host families...

Exciting~~

I've been keeping my eye out for families needing someone at the end of summer. I've gotten a few responses for mid-late August.

Hopefully I'll find a family in France or Spain. That'd be exciting.

a few random things since i haven't updated anything

i left one month ago. i haven't "been here" one month until tomorrow technically. all the same to me though. it feels like it's only been a week. 100% does not feel like a month.

i changed all my bedding this morning and its so nice to not have cat hair everywhere. I have to shut the door every time i leave and I feel bad about it... but I'd rather not have hair on everything.

some days I'd really like to be functional without my glasses. today I just don;t want to wear them. i'm sitting with my computer three inches from my face so i can see what I'm typing. i think I've gotten to know the house well enough that i can manage most things with out them if i need to, but today is just a day where my eyes don't want to focus on anything. my bedding is different shades of pink, purple, green, blue and yellow swirly flower things...and with the lighting in the room through the window it looks so nice blurry when i don;t have glasses on.

i am still really bad at Italian. The girl next door (i think she's 7) has taught me a lot. not really taught me but I've picked up more from her than anyone else. i know more than I think i do. but i'll flat out say i have no motivation to learn it. i don't like the way it sounds and it still hurts my brain. listening to conversations has gotten easier and i'm getting better at figuring out what people are talking about.

I had Japanese food for the first time on Thursday, it was iffy... i think i like Chinese better. i had some raw salmon and some smoked salmon. along with a soup that i cant remeber what it was. i think it had seaweed and tofu in it. i thought it tasted like ginger though.

i bought postcards, like, last week and all ive done is put addresses on them. i havent wrote nything because a)i dont know what to and b) theres only and inch of space. i loked up online and it cost 85 cents or something to send them to the US. i have 5 i think. so itll be almost 5 euro. maybe ill go monday to do them.

I'll start with last week (Thursday? maybe Friday... I don't remember) I met a few of the neighbors. One's who live like, 3 houses down with a 7/8 year old (I'm not quite sure how old exactly she is) and 13 month old boy. The mother is so nice, I cant spell her name to save my life, and the dad is insanely tall and pretty quiet... they are so relaxed and just...really nice. The grandmother (who I met her briefly) watches the kids everyday, and I was told she's old and gets tired easily. So on Thursday the mom comes home a little early and she's going to show me the way to the girls school and after we pick her up we are going to hang out for a bit and see how it goes. She wants me to play/do activities with her that make her use her English. She knows a little but gets shy around English speakers I guess and just wont talk. So we'll see how that goes. I'm really curious. It's going to be an everyday thing after Thursday if it goes well so I'm hoping it works out.

The other neighbors I met were really, uhh, had a lot of energy? at least the mom and kids did. the son had more energy than a whole litter of puppies combined. The father was really relaxed. he and the daughter were the only ones who spoke English. I think I heard that the mother is a teacher... and He is a lawyer I guess. he said he needs his English brushed up, so if i wanted to come around and just talk with him and the kids or something? idk, he was mostly talking to Anna in Italian about it, and I haven't seen them since, so we'll see how that one goes. i'm not sure which house they live in, i haven't seen them around, but the father office is directly across the sidewalk/walkway thing. They know a lot of people and said they could introduce me to more people and some more my own age so I'm not so lonely/have more things to do, ect.

I remembered!

Posted by Kaelee at 10:38 AM 0 comments
one of the towns at least... the one famous for all the winter sports was Madonna di Campiglio. the mountains were called The Dolomites. they were so beautiful. I want to say the other town was Moreno or Mareno (It reminded me of Mr. Moran the math teacher every time we went by a sign that's the only reason i remember.)on the way back we saw mountains made of marble. Mountains. Made of marble. MARBLE. my mind was kind of blown, i don't know why. i just picture marble as statues and not massive mountains, like, i know it has to come from somewhere but seeing it as a mountain is kind of mind blowing. even from a distance for 3 seconds. I didn't even have enough time to take a picture, it went by that fast... but still.... MOUNTAINS OF MARBLE. omg.
here is a picture of me looking like a dope in front of the dolomites.

i spent the day just hanging around. i don't know my way around yet, in a few hours I'm going to be shown my way to the train station so i can find my way out of here during the day, there is really nothing to do in this little town once the baby is at school. it's basically the Italian equivalent of Ida. just less dense. everything is all together on one hill and everyone is close together. so maybe when i know my way out of here i'll have more exciting things to do talk about. Tomorrow i'm going to out on my first adventure alone =S the only sentence i know is "I don't speak Italian" but other than that i know like 15 words, but can't make a coherent sentence out of them. I think Como is kind of touristy (in the summer anyway) hopefully if i am in a blunder someone will know how to speak English. I think i'll just walk around for awhile and take my own snacks so I don't have to go through the hassle of ordering just yet. I just point and nod, If they ask questions I'm totally lost. The little kids at the stores and such are kind easy to talk to because most are shy and they understand the 15 words i know. There was a little boy at the hotel over the weekend who told me my Italian was bad, yeah i know kid. Then asked if i knew Spanish. I told him i could count to ten. I know polo loco (or el polo loco? IDK) too. I think that's the name of the restaurant on Breaking Bad? hmm, what else. They take dogs everywhere here. into stores and everything. big ones too, i saw like, a great dane type one in the shoe store. haha. i miss cuddling with my baby cats all the time. the two they have here are older, but they only want to be pet when they want to be pet and wont let me pick them up. all four of our cats really don't care if you touch (or even wake them up) them when they are sleeping... these ones do, lol. one is really loud and sounds like a kid. yesterday he was in the other room making tons of noise and i though it was a kid outside.
ok that's probably enough i guess. i'll go find something to do...
